Nails extensions - How safe are nail extensions?
Although any nail extension is not as safe as covering your existing nails with nail polish, as long as they are applied by a professional or make absolutely sure that the extension is clinically clean before applying it to your finger tips.
Any dirt however small could become glued inbetween your natural finger nail and the extension applied and could go on to cause infection.
What effect can nails extension have on my own nails?
Obviously covering up your nail will have an effect on them, but as long as care is taken by the nail technician applying the extensions and the fibreglass nails are not worn permanently, you can minimise this effect take care to allow your nails to breath as often as possible and if you take very good care of your existing nails you could grow them into your own real talons and use fibreglass extensions as a temporary beauty fix
What are nails extensions and nail enhancements?
Extensions are plastic or acetate tips and are glued to your natural nail to give the appearance of naturally long nails
Enhancements are nail wraps usually made of silk, linen and sometimes paper or a gel or acrylic powder. Nail wraps cover your natural nail to add strength and length.
Is it possible to grow my own natural nails? Yes of course it is.
My personal suggestions for growing naturally long talons is to always keep them covered with a good nail polish, even if its a clear polish.
I consider a good nail polish to be one that does not make your finger nails feel rubbery, not necessarily an expensive polish! Most of my nail polishes I buy from markets and cheap stores!
Always use washing up gloves to cover your fingernails against getting wet for long periods of time.
When you remove your nail polish, give your nails and hands a relaxing massage with a moisturising cream and rub it into your nails and cuticles, before reapplying new polish.
When using a nail file, don't saw your nails, use the file in a sweeping motion from the fingertip up towards the tip of the nail, changing direction for each side of the nail.
It is worth spending more on a nail file, I would never every recommend using a steel nail file! Once you've gently filed your nails, use a soft file to finish with a buffing type effect.
There is a product that can help improve very weak nails called Nailoid. Or eating raw jelly has also helped me throughout the years.
I have had long talons all my life and take good care of them, creating new designs each time I replace my nail polish and am chuffed when people comment on them.

picking up a glass and leaving the new fingernail attached to it!

To remove the nail extension it is best to file the nail down as far as you

When I say a good nail varnish, one that dosn't make your nails feel soft once applied. A good nail varnish will make your nails feel strong and if you tap the tip of your nail on the table, you will notice a difference and the nail should not be able to bend.
You will notice a cheap nail varnish and cheap nail extensions, and I would not advice buying either of them! Howevers some expensive nail varnishes I have bought in the past, have made my naturally long nails bendy!
Find the right nail varnish for you and stick to that brand!
What is the right brand of nail varnish and what is the right brand of nail extensions, you will find that out as you test the products yourself. I have found a very cheap nail varnish that really is hard as rock and also used a very expensive nail varnish that weakens my nails. Also I have found that expensive nail varnishes often stain my natural nail colour too.
What is the best nail varnish remover?
I have again tried and tested many on the market. The more expensive the nail varnish remover, the worse it worked!
I have often used plain old acetone, of the very cheap kind and it works very well and indeed has moisturised my nails. Over time the cheaper acetone and nail varnish removers actually help keep my natural long nails in tip top condition!
Plus of course I regularly devour lots of raw jelly. I have no idea why raw jelly works better than cooked jelly, apart from the obvious, you cant eat as much raw jelly as cooked jelly!
But from a very early age, I adored raw jelly and noticed it helped my nails, so I will keep devouring it!
I love many colours on my nails, and there are many nail varnishes out there that offer bright colours and I have recently found nail varnishes with a very thin brush, perfect for painting my own designs on my nails.
This takes a bit of practice, but when you colour your nails with designs, the design does not matter as its art!
