NAILS NAIL DESIGNS advice on NAIL VARNISH NAIL VARNISH REMOVER and FILING YOUR NAILS
I try to keep my nails in good condition. I love my nails and they grow long and strong. Although I have never had nail extensions, I have considered extensions if one of my nails break, leaving the remaining nails difficult to keep long!
I never wash up dishes and apart from when I take a bath or shower, never put my hands into water. Currently my nails are very long, this causes problems once they grow past a certain length, as it puts strain on the nail still joined onto my finger!
What Happens when your nails are too short and brittle?
From personal experience with nails, I have always found it beneficial to keep at least a strong clear nail varnish covering my nails at all times.
Since I was 12 years old, I have very rarely exposed my nails and they are long and strong.
Another cute tip would be to strengthen them by eating raw jelly! Yes, it does have an effect and is a very cheap solution! Years ago, around the time of pregnancy, I found my nails suffering a bit, I bought another relatively cheap solution, called Nailoid, a pink substance that you rub into your nail before putting on the nail varnish. Keep this up, both the jelly and Nailoid and you could soon begin to see a big long difference in the health and length of your own natural nails!
What Happens when your nails are too long?
If the nails are too long, I cannot sleep on my tum at night as the tips of
my naturally long nails lean on the bed, putting pressure on the finger,
so often I have to file the nails to a more acceptable length.
When I file my nails, I use a relatively rough nail file, never one of
those silver metal files as I found in the past they split the nail!
I always file up and towards the centre of the tip of the nail, in a long and sweeping motion.
Years ago I used to file my nails to a pointed tip, now I perfer to box them off at the top and have actually found it to improve the strength of my nails!
What nail varnish might I use?
I will be taking photos each time I change the designs on my nails. To paint my nails I prefer the cheap large bottle brand, especially as I go throo nail varnish like its going out of fashion! Plus many wacky colours are available, finally cos they are cheap yet dont chip and last longer even though my nails get a real pounding each day on this keyboard! I have never paid out more than a couple of quid for a bottle of nail polish.
Also if keep your nails covered most of the time with nail varnish,
it's worth giving your nails a break every now and then, the photos
on this page of my naturally long nails are the result of keeping them
covered with nail varnish 99.9% of the time! Hmm nice!
What nail varnish remover might I use?
Also I use acetone as opposed to nail varnish remover, another cheap option, acetone works quickly and has had no poor effect on the health of my nails in all the years I have used it!
Acetone also removes the mad colours I use quickly and cleanly!
Nail Designs choosing and using!
I don't actually think about a design or colour coordination before I begin painting my nails, I usually prefer to place a base colour, then have all my various colours lined up and just pick one. I use the normal brush to create designs, making sure the main stem of the paint brush is not about to drop a huge blob onto my base coat!
Then using the edge of the brush, I let my other hand choose to jerk the brush over my nails!
Often I use a white base colour then quarter each nail adding light orange colours with pink then use a black varnish to finish with a zig zag effect or similar!
Watch this space for other designs I put on my nails! Although, using cheap nail varnish as I do, you may have quite a while between new nail photos are uploaded!
Keeping your Nail Varnish longer!
Keeping nail varnish is usually a nightmare! But, if you keep it in the fridge and take it out just before you need to apply it to your nails, you should find the varnish stays unsticky for longer and has the added benefit of drying on your nails quicker! Chilled nail varnish on the rocks!
What happens when my nails get naturally very long?
As you can see from this photo of one natural long nail, the little finger nail, once nails reach a certain length, they begin curling round and if you leave them to grow further, they will end up like long spirals! The only photo I have seen of such long nails belonged to a man! He had the longest fingernails in the world record!
Personally I tend to find that my nails begin to curl around once they get
to the length of the photos here right but the index fingernail is the first to curl!
